Wil Lofy was born on January 31, 1937 at Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg.
Important figure of the « Made in Lëtzebuerg » art scene, Lofy never followed the trends. Making wood his material of predileciton, he also perfeclty masters Carrara marble, concrete or even metal. He designed many sculptures for Luxembourg's cities like the Hämmelsmarsch fountain in Luxembourg (1982), the Maus Ketty foutain in Mondorf-les-Bains (1986) dedicated to the memory of the Luxemburgish poet August Liesch, the Blannen Theis statue (1991) or the Bacchus fountain in Remich (1999).
