New Monograph: José Parlá, Contemporary Palimpsests

We are happy to announce the release of the new monograph of José Parlá titled Contemporary Palimpsests.

José Parlá: Contemporary Palimpsests, published by SKRIA traces four decades of the artist journey from early mural paintings, architectural collaborations to recent museum shows at Pérez Art Museum Miami and Pola Museum in Tokyo. 304 pages of paintings, murals, rare sketchbooks, archives, ceramics and essays by Authors Rey Parlá, Iván de la Nuez & Jonathan Rider. An intimate interview with Rey Parlá is also a must-read on habitat and collaboration.

“Rarely has work so rooted in a specific time possessed such an atemporal quality. Rarely has an artist so at home on the streets filled a museum so elegantly. For José Parlá, however, these are not contradictions; as the sorrows recounted in a bolero, they pile up until they reach immortality. Like the thunderclap that announces the storm. Or like that life—his life—which both predates and outlives art.”

– Iván de la Nuez (Spain)
